Dominic Gardetto

Bio

Dominic’s dedication to the labor movement is rooted in his family. His proud union uncles and his union leader grandfather showed him the power of solidarity while he was growing up. In college, Dominic learned more about labor history and unions which helped him more fully grasp the importance of organized labor. Understanding the labor movement’s power to transform people’s lives for the better inspired Dominic to dedicate his career to fighting for workers’ rights. After college, his experience at an employment law firm helped him decide to pursue this goal by becoming a lawyer.

In law school Dominic curated a course of study, through coursework, internships, and extracurricular activities, that helped prepare him to advocate for workers. He interned with the National Labor Relations Board and served as a law clerk and a Peggy Browning Fellow for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. As the Symposium and Community Engagement Editor for the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law & Policy, Dominic organized a symposium titled “The Future of Work: the Intersection of Poverty & Labor.” Dominic also rechartered the Georgetown Law Labor & Employment Law Society and served as its treasurer.

Dominic is excited to apply this knowledge to JBOH’s work with labor unions, pension funds, and individual employers.

Although Dominic is new to Chicago, he grew up in Minnesota and is a true Midwesterner. He enjoys spending time with family, exploring the outdoors, kayaking, visiting museums, and is a loyal fan of Notre Dame and the Minnesota teams.
